| TREASURE ISLAND BOOKS IS A GREEN COMPANY! Our books are shipped in secure wrapping materials which include combinations of any of these whenever possible: RECYCLED, CLEAN plastic bags, paper bags, bubble wrap, foam wrap, and cardboard. We often use newspaper (when cost effective, postage-wise) to cushion books in cardboard boxes we've constructed. Using recycled materials helps keep our costs down. We pass those savings along to you in the form of quality used and out-of-print books that are fairly priced, as well as shipping costs that are as low as we can make them without any handling fees. In our home we've been recycling aluminum, paper, glass and plastic for years. |
| We've been in business since December 1999, first with a brick-and-mortar store in Salem, Oregon. In 2003 we closed that location and moved our inventory to our home where we now run our business exclusively online. We have a non-smoking home. We run our business on a shoestring budget and apologize that currently we can't offer you sophisticated inventory search methods or a shopping cart. We've designed our ordering process to be as simple as possible under our limited circumstances. Because we love books and understand readers like you, we examine all the books we list for quality and do our best to accurately describe them. Most of our inventory's condition is rated between "Near Fine" and "Very Good." We only list books in "Very Good Minus" or less condition when they're particularly interesting. For a full description of how we rate our books' conditions, please visit our How We Rate and Describe Our Books page. We do our best to provide accurate descriptions of our books. Typically, if you don't see a description of some kind it's because the book has been rated as "Fine" (which we equate with "New") or "Near Fine." However, while we're loathe to admit it, there will be some instances where the descriptions may be lacking. This is the result of several people being given that task in the past. This is an on-going project that we're continuously tidying-up. Most of our inventory is priced between $3.00 and $10.00. We want to sell quality used books at affordable, competitive, and fair prices. Please rest assured that when you see a sale here on our site we haven't raised our base list prices to give you the illusion of saving money. Because we also list with the online used-book brokers ABEBooks.com and Amazon.com; you can double-check our list prices at any time. If you ever have a question about our pricing, feel free to contact us at info@treasureislandbooks.net. You'll find that our shipping fees are reasonable here on our site (often better than those we have with the online used-book brokers we currently list with). And, while you may find a book from our inventory on one of those sites, if you place your order via our web site, we'll extend to you not only the shipping rates we have on our web site but also a special website-only discount. Should you have specific questions about any one of our books, please know we don't have such a huge, unwieldy inventory that we don't know where they are. We can locate any book in our inventory in a matter of moments because they're all right here...not stored in some warehouse across town. We know our books personally and we can provide you with further information...even scans of the book via email...within a short time. A very important note...we do not accumulate customer information for any sort of mailing lists. We don't sell our customer information and we don't even use it ourselves beyond the book order; we cannot speak for the online book brokers we list with. Since we don't process credit cards in-house, we have no access to that sort of information. Above all, we respect your privacy. |
