BEADED FIREFLIES

Our friends, Warren and Lily, recently returned from a trip to Florence, Italy where they were enchanted with all
the fireflies dancing around their hotel, a converted convent on one of the city's hills.

We visited with them not long after they returned home and the very next day I saw Char Jorgensen's beaded
firefly project featured in "Beading Daily."  I was inspired and spent the next day happily making fireflies while
sitting on our patio in the summer sunshine.

I used only beads and supplies I had in my stash...it was a great way to use stuff up and I got a little bit of
wire-wrapping practice in, too!

We don't have fireflies here in Oregon so I can only imagine what they must be like.  Listening to Warren and Lily
talk about them, though, they must be magical little critters.

As a surprise, I sent them these little guys...they can tie fishing line around their middles and hang them from the
celing or make a mobile...or glue thumbtacks to 'em and use them on bulletin boards...or glue little magnets to
'em and have them cluster on their 'fridge.

Here are the instructions, if you want to make some for yourself:

Above is the largest one I made, using beads different from the
"dagger" beads I used for all the rest.

At the bottom of the other two pictures are the smallest
ones...matching twins if Lily wanted to make a pair of earrings...if she
dares!
